Where I stayed
We had interesting taxi trips from and to the airport. The first guy was a racing car driver at up to 160kmh, whilst the return trip the next day we got the full run down on politics, economy, which nationalities were good, which were disliked, along with how corrupt Greek politicians are and it was all better under the socialist dictatorship up to 1974 before democracy - no Mr. 10% here, some of the infrastructure projects had Mr. 200% running the show.
A nice evening dinner and early night prepared us for a lazy Sunday walking through the Plaka area and up the local hill.
After seeing many similar ruins across Italy and the Aegean coast of Turkey we were thinking that the excitement from large ancient ruins would be gone - but no, the Akropolis didn't fail and yet another amazing sight as you walk up the alley from the Plaka and around the side to the entrance. This rock is high up !
After a leisurely stroll around the top we walked backed through the Plaka and had some lunch in one of the alley cafes - by this stage Steph had heard Paul repeat himself over and over again how he liked the narrow cobble stone and medieval alley ways that she was over any of his locale comments - (it only took 5 weeks).
