The next day we borrowed their bodyboards and headed to the beach for fun fun fun in the sun sun sun. It was a great laugh. The funniest bit was when I caught a wave that we'd both gone for and I was wondering if Louisa had caught it and heard her laughing. I just went off the back of it as she went flying past. The timing of her appearance was spot on. We spent quite a while there and I'd made the mistake of thinking my back didn't need suncream as I'd be underwater. As I was floating about a lot I woke up the next day to a bit of sunburn. D'oh. Not the biggest mistake of the day though, I managed to lock my car and then put my keys in my pocket. My swim shorts pocket. I then played in the ocean. Luckily they were still there, particularly as my spare car key was locked in the boot at the time. The bad news was that I had my online dongly thingy in there and it's totally ruined. So for the second time I'm stuffed not being able to transfer money in to my current account as I can't access it. I'll say it again, great security, but only if you've got the dongle. I'm now having to hit the UK credit card to survive which isn't ideal, my money is in NZ and the UK where I'm spending from is where all my debt is. Oh dear. No time to worry though, it was party time, new years eve!

The party crowd was mainly Oirish, a couple of sisters and a lad from over there and an Australian. That made a total of 7 although when we first started on a bbq there were 6 of us. As everyone knows, that's perfect for a game of flip cup. Flip cup? Yes, it's the drinking game craze that's storming the new year parties on Seaspray Road. It's simple genius can't be faulted. Get yourself a picnic table, or perhaps cover a favourite table and remove any chairs so that the players can be fully dynamic. Split in to two teams and prepare for a boat race of sorts. Each person has a plastic cup and a shot of beer is placed in each cup. On a friendly chink of plastic cups the first players neck the beer and then place the cup the normal way on the edge of the playing table. Then in a single deft move, the cup is flipped to land the opposite way up. At this stage the next player does the same until the last player has finished. First team to finish wins. Dead easy, and a phenomenally quick way of getting through beer. Within minutes we'd seen off a pile of beers and before long the table was swimming with a bit of flying beer and full of bottles. Great fun. We then moved on to some surprisingly delicious punch and took what was left down to the beach to see in the new year. We didn't bother heading in to town as we were an hour walk away and weren't sure of bus times or even if they were running. In the end it was the right choice, from where we were we could still see the official fireworks and had a few of our own. There was a few fires going and a few idiots to go with them as the fireworks were thrown on the fire to light them, luckily they all went towards the beach away from the people. After laughing at some drunks who seemed a bit over obsessed with wresting we heading back for more flip cup and twister before we collapsed for real for the night.
