I was then asked a few more questions than I was expecting about my one way ticket.
Fact of the day - did you know that if an airline sends someone who will end up being rejected by immigration, they get fined 2,000 quids?
So, they weren't sure about my one ticket. The really daft thing is that the suggested solution is the purchase of the cheapest fully flexible ticket going (about 350 to Sydney) and then a full refund. All very very pointless.
Anyway, the good news is that I produced enough bits of paper saying it was all ok and they made a call to double check and so my 24 hours of painful tortuous hell could begin....
