So after admiring the breathtaking Utah scenery, we travel through a snowstorm pretty early in the day. We travelled on Highway 50 - dubbed the loneliest in America. We drive a fair stretch of the road with the mountain and deserts to ourselves. Arrive in Fallon, Nevada, which I later learn is the home of the real Top Gun school, just as the networks are calling the election. The Indian fella who ran the motel was visibly moved. Watching Obama's acceptance speech, some of the locals were happy, others more circumspect, and others still paid more attention to the NFL game being re-run on the other screen. Not quite Grant Park, but an interesting night to be in this corner of the nation all the same.
