Where I stayed

We arrived into Tupiza by train. Train travel in Bolivia is really cheap and much more comfortable than the buses. We checked into La Torres Hotel, which was as good as the Hilton (not that we´ve ever stayed in the Hilton) and cost 7 euros a night. We had cable TV, private bathroom with 24 hour hot water, the comfiest bed and even a spare bed to put all our clothes on. Needless to say once we settled in we never wanted to leave. We stayed 6 nights even though there is nothing to do in Tupiza except horse-riding. Tupiza is the town where Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid´s final escapade started. They followed the local banker who was delivering wages to miners and made off with the money. The Bolivian army hunted them down to a town called San Vicente, 100kms outside Tupiza, this is where the two of them finally fell.

We met a great Irish couple Karen & Damien(yep more Irish, they´re all over Bolivia) and booked a 3 hour horseriding tour with them. Neither of us had ever been horse riding before so was good to get a chance to try it. We were collected by our guide Carlos, who looked about 13 years old! We walked to where the horses were kept and then it was on the horse and off you go - no instructions on how to stop or steer the horses. Ok so its not rocket science but a few words wouldn´t have done any harm. Anyway we had a good laugh and the scenery was amazing once we got out of town. Definitly worth the sore arses!!!
