Arriving into La Paz is something you won´t forget in a hurry. La Paz itself is okay as far as over-crowded dirty cities go but El Alto, the suburb you drive through on the way in is just depressing. Theres just so many people, so much poverty and so much rubbish it gets to you.

La Paz was great for shopping, the huge mercado negro has everything you could ever want. We were staying beside the Witches Market where they sell lots of good luck charms such as lots of llamas feutus´, wasn´t good luck for the poor old llama was it! Plenty of normal souveniers too. We visited the Coca Museum which was really interesting. The museum is tiny but you can get all the information in English and we learnt nearly everything there is to know about the coca leaf. We have called this entry Little Israel because of the sheer amount of them here in La Paz. There are even hostels solely for them!

After La Paz we got a mini bus to Coroico 100kms to the north. Part of the journey is on the Worlds Most Dangerous Road, you´re meant to cycle down it on a tour but we couldn´t be arsed. Here we stayed in a great guesthouse called La Villa Bonita. It was so nice we found it hard to leave. Theres not alot to do but theres lovely scenery and nice restaurants, quiet place perfect for doing nothing. We are getting very lazy since we arrived to Bolivia. The thoughts of a 20 hour bus journey just puts us off completely!! The roads are bad and the buses look like they are going to fall apart. After much discussion (over bottles of vodka which cost 2.50) we decided not to be lazy and skip the salt plains (top attraction in Bolivia) so thats our next stop.
