Paramount Bus to Sihanoukville was a pleasant ride well worth the $6. We had transfers organised but they didn't show so we head off our own way. Tuk Tuk $2 to drive us around to find a spot to stay, everything is full... wooops first time in ages we find a book out. We push on and find a $9 rooms until we can find the goods in town. We head out later to find a better, more relaxing place to spend a few days. We find The Cove, a little over budget but the bungalows have SUPER ocean views, $24 includes breakfast some are from $19. A few days in I get a virus and spend a fair bit of time getting to know our toilet and then the bed. Apparently there is a bug going around here, and there are a lot of locals and travellers with the same sickness.

We end up staying 5 nights here, our first night was a bit noisy as the termites munched the poles against our bed head. The next day they upgraded us to the superior bungalow for an extra dollar as we also had no power for most of the day and all night. Our new abode was awesome, closer to the bar and massage ladies!

Heading out at night for the $3 beach BBQ and $0.50 Beers, also the beach happy hour cocktails are a good option as well, super strong and around the $1.50 mark. We also spent quite a lot of time on our balcony reading while I was sick which was really relaxing. Sokha Beach is well worth a look, well only the far left hand side as the rest of the beach is owned by the resort.

After a total of 6 nights in the main area we decide to take a look at Otres Beach, we are soooo glad we did, much more relaxed here with not so many beach hagglers asking for fruit fruit sir or massage, glasses, you buy bracelet promise, cut nails? Our first night was Mushroom Point great for one night, great set up but more of a novelty than a long stay as the bungalows are $25 no breaky and the room is very small with one round bed which is a little hard for two to sleep in, the bungalow is shaped like a mushroom they also have a dorm room option which is cheaper but it was booked out, outdoor toilet so a bit pricey for what you get and it isn't on the beach. Next day we stay at Otres Beach Guesthouse a few doors up, $15 big room, great bathroom, awesome wi-fi and FANTASTIC cocktails, and for our fellow White Russian and Black Russian fans (you know who you are) they are AWESOME $1.75 each in happy hour.

All in all Otres Beach is the place to be if you want to relax, hang out on the beach as there are a few great beach bars to spend the day, later watch the sun set and drink cheap happy hour cocktails for great prices, some food is more expensive here but the place NOW is a lot nicer but who knows how long this will last.

We find ourselves hanging out at Sunlord Seagarden, a bar across the road on the beach laying in the sun drinking beers having lunch watching the sun set taking advantage of happy hour cocktails and $0.50 draft beer. The guys that work in the bar are awesome, helping out where possible and there with a cold beer when you need it, to you guys THANK YOU you were fun to be around. They also have a boat trip that leaves everyday that pretty much copies the same tours on the main beach but they include breaky and promise better. It was the same, we also followed the other tours and turned up last to see about 5 other boats in the same spot. $18 per person for this one. When you add it up it works our pretty good. Breakfast, lunch ( barracuda, salad and fresh baguette beers and coke) plus beers on the boat, water, snorkeling, a few minutes of fishing, swimming and a bit of a bush trek, great day, the only downside is the owner who adds his spin on things telling how amazing their boat tour is and he is going to come along and catch snakes and take us to an island than has no one on it.... Mmmm! Not going to happen here!

For some exercise we walk back to the main beach (Serendipity) which is around an hour stroll along the beach, great walk!

Just to add to this blog before I finish I would like to mention the Lobster Ladies. On the beach from early in the morning until almost sunset these ladies stroll up and down the beach with a HUGE tray of lobster like creatures (cooked) on their heads. We were warned not to go near them after lunch as you would be a red hot favourite for a severe case of evacuation from both ends, if you get my drift. To our surprise one afternoon a couple sitting next to us, at 4pm decided to buy one ladies entire tray of left over lobsters... we didn't see them the next day! Also on another note, we did not try them so.... Another girl who was a local told us they are ok for some poeple but for others it makes them sick... say no more!!!

So in total - 6-7 Days Serendipity and then 5-6 days on Otres Beach.

Tomorrow we head for Kampot 2nd March.
