After an uneventful day where we crossed the border and embarked on a long 3˝hr dusty and hot bus journey with the local people who clearly have strong bladders and strong stomachs, we arrived in Tupiza. Here we decided to go horse riding. 'This makes it stop, this will turn it'; these were the detailed instructions given to us as we mounted the horses. Of course, after this training session, we were ready to ride like Mr and Mrs J Wayne. Despite impromptu galloping, stubborn steering and faulty brakes, our horses served us very well and the journey took us through a deep canyon and we passed bizarre phallic-shaped rock formations.
