Germany is a great country... the roads are great, German motorways are the best and they are toll free, amazingly easy to free camp on, with there great pullovers and  complete with toilets!!  The scenery is amazing and so are the people..... which brings me to my story!
Hamish, Katie, Astro, Susie, Digger and I were driving along a little road in Germany, having just visited Wartburg Castle... we were a little jaded and decided to pull over early, have some dinner and a chill out... we pulled in to a little rest spot. The boys played with there newly brought fireworks while us girls made dinner only to have a crazy German man wave as he drove past in his ute... he pulled in and we were sure that he was going to kick us out, thinking this might have been his land... "Are you camping here he asked?" Not quite sure what the best reply was we all looked at each other and a "mmmayybe?!" came out of all our mouths.... "Cool, he replied, but I am having a party just up the road, you can come if you like, and you can camp!!"  Not 100% sure we told him we'd think about it and might pop along later... thinking 'not likely mate!'.  The boys were keen and we were sitting around weighing up the if's and but's of this party when sure enough.. the ute was back!  Out jumps Hans - our newly found German friend and his little dog...we chatted for a while and realized he was a genuine guy, he had been in England for the last year, had just arrived back in Germany and it was his birthday!  Talking to him for a while put our minds at rest and we thought we had better go and check out this party!!  We all piled into one van, just to go for a look... see what we think!  You can never be too careful!  But there was nothing dodgy going on here... just a good old German party... and party they can ! It was a great set up... tents and tarps for a bit of shelter including couches, a DG spinning music, a big bonfire and a trusty BBQ giving out great German sausages!!  Everyone was friendly and they all spoke English...another good thing about Germany!  We learnt a few German words, got asked questions about New Zealand and the travel we had done... drunk cold beer and ate great German sausages!  A great night and what an experience.... and we're so glad we went!
