Hello all you wonderful people!

Here is our latest blog update.

We had the usual assortment of transport to get us to Sipalay from Dumagette. 2 buses, 2 tricycles and a bangka boat. It is amazing what you get used to.

We chose to stay in a place called Driftwood and we were not disappointed. Our accommodation was a type of tree house / bungalow on stilts. The side of the bungalow completely opened up by a series of ropes and once opened we had a view of the lovely lush garden right from our bed. It was brilliant.

The beach in Sipalay is lovely. It is all sand that stays shallow far out into the ocean so it is idle for swimming. Driftwood is the ideal chill out place. There are hammocks scattered everywhere, board games in the communal area and they even have a float for you to chill on in the ocean. It really did feel like we were shipwrecked on the island especially because it was so quiet. There were hardly any people in any of the resorts so we had this lovely stretch of white sand to ourselves. (again). At night the beach came alive though but I don't mean with people. It was the local wildlife that we had to watch as we slowly walked back to our bungalow after a few rum and cokes. We gingerly had to step around crabs, frogs, shells and huge snails!

On one of the days we took a walk along the beach and came across this lovely little cove. The water was amazing so we decided to jump in. The trouble was we could not get back out as the rocks were too sharp so we had to swim back around to the main beach. Oh the troubles that we are having. Sigh.

Sipalay is a place where you come to chill for a while as there is not much there. It is perfect for a few days and then you move on. Which we did after day 3 and headed to an island called Guimaras. A place famous for it's mangoes and chilling. Oh, didn't we already do that?

See you all in the horizontal position!

All our love,

Paul & Karen xxx
