The main reason we stopped in Nha Trang was its train station that linked directly to Ho Chi Minh. We’d grown tired of Vietnamese night buses. Even though we actually got beds on the bus, the potholes and constant beeping of the horn made sure we were wide eyed and restless throughout the long journeys. The Vietnamese drivers have a special relationship with their horns. They use them as frequently as their lungs and  seem to rely on them just as much.
Having said that we had two great days in this city. We found a fantastic little hotel that was new, bright, clean and cheap with ac and cable TV. We were overjoyed! As we’d hardly slept on our way here we decided  to just chill out by the beach and headed to the Sailing Club. They’ve got huge comfortable sun beds surrounded by a wooden structures with calico curtains that make you feel like you’ve got your own private room on the beach.

For once it is I who is going to talk about the food! When we arrived in Nha Trang we found this great little French bistro that did fantastic breakfasts. I had eggs Benedict my favourite breakfast by far. Yum it was perfect (and Emily, they did get the hollandaise sauce right!) Karen had Parma Ham one day with a baguette and it was so good and I quote her on this “ her heart beat faster”. Now if only I could have such effects on her!
The beach in Nha Trang is really nice, a long stretch of sand with palm trees and islands in the bay in front. We even got to swim! The first time in the ocean since Cambodia! We have missed it. We met a lovely woman called Pamela who went diving in the area and said it was good. We were kind of gutted we did not go but we decided to save all of our diving for when we got to the Philippines.
We only spent a day and a half in Nha Trang but we really enjoyed it. It was nice and low key. Our next stop will be entirely different though. Ho Chi Minh City aka Saigon here we come.
Speak to you all from there if we survive crossing the roads!
