Hello all!

This is just a short update as we only stayed in Muang Khua for 12 hours.

We shared our river boat with a middle aged French couple who had been travelling for 3 years! They still had more to go too. They were so inspiring. They had traveled the length of Africa, India and most of Asia. We asked how they did it and they just shrugged and said we sold our house, cars, etc. Brilliant stuff. The journey was lovely, boat travel is up there with trains in my view.

The reason why we were in town for only 12 hours was because the following morning we were getting a bus to Vietnam at 04:00. That is not a typo! Early start or what!

The town itself is uninspiring but we met some really inspirational people in the short time we were there. I have already mentioned the French couple. We were staying next to a cool Dutch couple who were volunteering in Ho Chi Minh City (the girl is the spitting image of Claudia Schiffer, just thought I would drop that in.) Next up was this crazy, eccentric Austrian lad who lives in Bangkok. He has all these mad theories like " Different nationalities look exactly like what they eat most. For example, Japanese people look like Tuna fish and Europeans look like pigs and Americans look like cows" We said that's an interesting theory but he said and I quote "Its no theory!" Ha ha. He had more crazy ideas a lot more. By the way, remember when we mentioned that we took some guy's room two towns down the river? Well it only turned out to be our new Austrian friend! Very funny. We were also joined by an Austrian lady and her cute 6 year old son and a German lad who had traveled all of Vietnam by bicycle. The day we met him he had traveled 150km! So as you can imagine, it was a very interesting and lively dinner that night!

And that's about it really. Like I said, short & sweet. We will next meet up with you in yet another new country. Vietnam! See you there.

All our love,

Paul & Karen xxx
