Where I stayed
Some hostel that we can't remember!

So off the sleeper bus we get. It took 12 hours in the end from Kunming. My god it was hard and little did I know that this was going to be one of the easiest bus journeys!

With the help of a local we jumped into a taxi. He still had no idea which hostel we wanted so took us to one of his fancy! We were not having any of that and finally got him to call our hostel to find out where it was.

We literally threw our bags in the room and headed to a place called The Mekong Cafe as the owner there has loads of information on how to get around. It was now 22:00 and we had not eaten (in my case for a few days). We find the place, order some food which was terrible and get the information we needed. Unfortunately, there were no boats going from Jinghong for at least 10 days. Bummer! Oh well, you can't win them all. No boats meant that we had to wake up at 05:00 the following morning (it was 00:30 by the time we got to bed) and head to the bus station and hope that there is a bus going down to Thailand as the information on the buses was a sketchy as the information on the boats.

When we got in our room, our room mates were already asleep. The next day they must have thought they dreamt our presence as we left before they woke up! ha ha.

One quick note on Jinghong itself. We liked the look and vibe of the city. It is on the Mekong river and the temperature is normally always warm. It is small so is easy to get around and they love putting neon on everything! I mean everything!

Night night and see you at 05:00
