"The whole world is addicted to a "pro-growth economic model of development" which means that economies depend on a never-ending increase in per capita consumption and production. That implies a never-ending increase in per capita consumption of energy. That is what is causing excessive emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs). When you combine an increasing population to increasing per capita production, you get a really big boost to global warming and all the other environmental problems brought about by human activities...

That is what has happened and is continuing to happen in the developed world. It is now happening more and more in the developing world as well.

Carbon trading and carbon sequestration are just playing around the edges of the problem. To halt the increase of GHGs in the atmosphere we must find a way to limit increases in per capita production and limit population growth. If we don't do it, Mother Nature will."

ROBERT UPLEE in a letter to the Bangkok Post

Hi. I have been thinking too much lately. Democracy. Politics. Humans. The environment. That sort of stuff.

I intend to write my thoughts in here on all that soon, but no time now. Anyway, it won't interest you, it is just a way for me to clear my head and sort out my thoughts.
