Kanchana and Mark and I went to Cambodia.
It has been a while now and so I have already forgotten. We flew to Cambodia (which is too expensive considering the length of the flight) and went and saw Angkor Wat - just for a day. We all enjoyed it. I like Cambodia and would like to see more of it, although I think Siem Reap is not at all representative of the rest of Cambodia.
Anyway - I can't remember the rest now - so I will just add pictures and let you see for yourself.
Oh - I found my notes:
Hotel was US$18 and included taxi from airport, A/C and hot water. I liked it. Name???
1 day guide for Angkor Wat was US$25 or $40 if we wanted to see the further out temples.
Visa was $20 or $25 for E-Visa
Ahhh - the name of the hotel was Sydney Agkor Hotel - it was good and clean and big.
Our guide was named Bengli. He was good. I'd use him again.
Internet was about $1 an hour in most places I saw.
$10 for a taxi to airport from town.
$25 departure tax - payable in US$ only.
E-visa cost an extra $5 and saved me about 15 minutes (although I had to wait for Mark and Kanjana anyway).
Angkor currently gets about 5000 visitors a day. So don't expect a quiet hidden away temple.
Sydney Angkor has mini vans available - if I was taking a group I'd probably use these. 11 pers per van.
If you buy more than a 1 day ticket to Angkor you need a passport photo also.
Bengli charged us $6 to organise a car to drop us and pick us up from dinner and dance.
The Aspara dancing is on from 7 - 8.30 pm at restaurant ____???Ask you local guide.
There is an ANZ ATM at the airport and one or two in town.
Coke cost about $1 in most places.
US$ seemed best to travel with and use.
2 beers and a packet of chips and a coke cost $2.60 from supermarket.
1 days pass to Angkor cost $20
Taxi to most areas for 1 day cost $25.
Apsara dinner cost $12 each.
Breakfast cost $2 for rice, $1 for drink.
Lunch cost $4 each including drink
Both these were within the Angkor Wat area.
There are flights available from Luang Prabang.
Bengli's number is 012798166. He was nice and helpful.
