"We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools." Martin Luther King, Jr.

One of Kanchana's work friends mother died recently (Maew's mother). Kanchana and another person from Kanchana's work were going with Maew back to her home to give her some support.

So Mark, Kanchana and I drove and visited Maew's home which is in a small Muslim village in Krabi. We stayed for a little while but also planned the trip to include some travel (or mostly travel).

We visited a spring and some hot springs in Krabi, drove to Trang, stayed in Krabi and then Phuket and drove up to and stayed in Ranong, before returning home.

Notes: Phuket - we stayed at Patong, which wasn't really that relaxing. It is pretty interesting (the nightlife and all the bars and stuff) but wasn't what we really wanted.

Ranong had terrible roads. It didn't seem to be a place where many tourists went and at night it was hard to find a reasonably priced place to stay, although the place we eventually found was very good. In the morning I saw other places.

I can't remember anything else. Look at the pictures. See ya

Oh - we visited some of the areas affected by the tsunami. Very interesting. We saw some of the new homes that are being built and have been built. It is amazing how many small offices the NGOs have in that area. The houses are nice though, just basic but nice (although many are still be built). I think the ones built by the Thai Navy were the best (and finished quite a while ago I think). The area where the Prince was killed was interesting. To see how far a large boat was washed inland. I think Kanchana was sad while we were looking in this area. We had lunch at a really nice spot here though and the owner told us about his experience. He was really nice, but it is interesting that he and some of the others in the town still get panicked. A few months ago some of them started running inland when they heard that there had been another tsunami in Indonesia.
