Got up at 4am in order to make an early start on the trail. We reach the South Kaibab Trailhead at 5.30am. The switchbacks are quite gentle to start with and we are in good spirits. Our route takes us over cedar ridge and past oŽneil butte before descending down the Tipoff - great names ........The last section is long and steep and we are begining to feel the heat already it is 8.30am and 110F. We finally reach the suspension bridge over the Colorado feet dragging and heads down we plod on to the campsite. We see a welcomw sign saying "Hot, tired? then jump in oour creek and cool off! Get Soaking" so we did........
