Picking up where I left off...
Saturday night I went to a new friends house by the Atlantic Ocean and hung out on the seawall. We were called to another party and I walked in and I think every white person in Guyana was present, it was pretty funny. It was a farewell party for someone who worked for the Canadain Commission. Met someone from Unionville there, born in the same year, very weird and also met a ton of other people that are from mostly Canada and the US that are around my age and going to be in Guyana for the entire time I will be.
Saturday night was pretty late so I lounged for most of sunday then headed over to the park to play some football (soccar), it was awesome, there is a huge field and it was just covered with people playing football and cricket, so cool. We played till dark, which is 6:00 here, I am still getting used to that one, my nights seem like they go on forever! Sunday night did the classis Guyanese thing and went to the seawall. The entire city literally comes out and sits on the seawall by the Atlantic Ocean, thousands of people, and all you do it sit and watch people walk by and talk with friends. Went to a bbq afterwards, but we made it an early night because we all had to work on Monday and we were all pretty tired from the weekend.
Went swimming this morning with the kids from the orphanage, pretty much the cutest thing I have ever done. 10 kids under 5, it was awesome. That pretty much sums up what I have been up to here. There is a goup of Guyanaese guys that take the volunteers under their wings, so I get to go to all the local parties and have met some pretty awesome people. Having an amazing time still!
