Possibly the most comfortable bus ride yet in South America.  Reclining leather seats with legrest.  Service much better compared with TurBus.  I fell asleep shortly after the bus left the terminal at San Borja since it was an evening departure, but when I woke up sometime at night, I was pleasantly surprised to find a packet of snack food on my lap.  When the same thing happened on TurBus, I got nothing...sigh.  It's the little things that count...

After getting into the Pullman terminal (all the bus companies here have their own terminals) in this town, we walked over a dozen blocks to what we thought was our hostel, only to be informed that we made our booking at their sister hostel, which was a little less than another dozen blocks away.  It turned out to be very nice as we had our own room with ensuite, and a clean kitchen which is always a plus...

Pucón, perhaps, is most famous for the active volcano covered by a glacier that can be seen from the town.  It was this volcano and the possibility to climb it that lured us here.  Having said that, we shopped around for 2 things:  the first, an excursion that would take us to this attraction, and the second, a bus (or more accurately, buses) that would take us not just out of town, but out of Chile altogether and into Argentina...

Anyway, after securing our plans for tomorrow, we decided to walk over to Lake Villarrica.  It was conveniently located just two blocks away from our hostel with a black sand beach.  It was probably the place to be in Pucon if you weren't climbing a volcano, being a beautiful sunny day at a tranquil natural setting (in shart contrast to the skyscrapers and smog of Santiago).  We even went into the water, though it was much too cold to stay in there for very long...
