We decided to stop off here on our way to Colombia as apparently the Saturday markets are the best in South America. The lonely planet guide even has it as one of the top 11 things to do while touring the continent. We were left very disappointed. Bar the vast away of stalls, the market was no different to that of what we've seen everywhere else. The type of stuff for sale included scarves, beanies, hats, sweaters, bracelets, key chains, bags, blankets and purses. Maybe, if we had visited here at the start of our trip, we'd have been impressed but unfortunately it wasn't for us. Our bags are so full at the moment that we couldn't fit more in if we tried. Instead of staying in Otavalo for one night, as previously planned, we decided to cross the border to Colombia that same afternoon and continue straight on to Cali.
