"Building Green" was the theme of the AIA convention, with keynote speaker Al Gore - the guy with the most environmentally inefficient home.... Didn't go to his speech, as I was more interested in going to a Mariachi mass inside San Fernando Cathedral - the oldest cathedral still standing in current US territory.
With the architects I toured a nature preserve, a ginormous bat cave, historic homes along the King William district, the famous Riverwalk and Alamo.
Instead of partaking in further networking strictly with architects after AIA lectures, I opted to go to local events. So, I enjoyed meeting film artists at Artpace, painters at Southwest School of Art & Craft, photographers in Southtown's 1st Friday Artwalk, merchants at the Mexican markets, and of course local psychics, just for fun in the mix.
