Amanda and Nanna took to the imposing challenge of Oxford St shopping on a Saturday and Sophie and Isabelle came with me.
"Shopping in Oxford Street - by Amanda and Sue.
Caught a bus to Marble Arch all by ourselves. Amazing what you can do when you need to!!!!
So many department stores, preferred Selfridges
Both had a stop at the Clarins and Clinique counters, hard to resist.
Our main aim was to reach Topshop, unfortunately, bus dropped us off at wrong end.
Many, many shops to pass. Kept wallet relatively closed, still scarred by airport making us reduce weight of luggage at check in. Not willing to go through that again.
Hope memory fades quickly..........still got Paris, Rome, Honkers!!!"
The girls and I head off to Southfield and walk to Wimbledon (nice little golf course over the road also). Quick look through the Museum and then on the tour. Court 1, Henman hill (soon to Murray;s mound?), Court 18 (where we spent a bit less time than Inser & Mahout), the Press conference room, Member's terrace and Center Court.
A feww souvenirss then the bus back to the station.
Tube back to Fulham Broadway then a quick run through the rain to Stamford Bridge
First transfort issues of the trip as line outages meant fewer trains from Paddington to Baker St 915 min wait!! Outrageous! Then find out Jubilee line out of action all weekend so have to walk from Baker St to St John's Wood (past the Sherlock Holmes museum). Lords has just shut when we get there and won't let us in. Have seen before but new stands look impressive. We splpurge on a cab round a few corners to the Zoo, also just closing but we see the girafes and boars.
Onto Regent's Park were we played ping pong next to a Table Tennis Paralympian and then got caught in the boathouse cafe for a hot chocolate during a short downpour. Then sun came out and we still had time for a paddle boat trip on the pond. Bus home to Victoria and picked up some KFC on way back to hotel and find Amanda and Nanna finishing of some Italian takeaway from next door. Harrogate tomorrow.
