Nanna and Amanda pack while I take the girls for a swim and try to organise a Grand Canyon flight for before we leave today. Helicopters all booked but we manage to get on a little 16 seater much to Amanda's trepidation. She thought Nanna would take her side and veto the helicopter when discussed yesterday but Nanna was up for it so Amanda spent the day talking herself into it. Not the light plane though.

Anyway, a 11.25 pickup means finish packing, checkout, pack and repark car and breakfast all in 2 hours. A breeze for this now well oiled travelling machine. Half hour ride out to Boulder City airport. Boulder is the only town in Nevada where you can't gamble except with the contents of your stomach. Fly out over Hoover Dam and power station (for tax reasons) then over and around the Canyon. C'est magnifique et formidable, practicing mon francais with the 5 french on board out of 12 of us. Most impressive natural landscape I have seen and a must if you are anywhere near. Probably a one in three return on the sick bags, better odds than Craps.

Back to Circus Circus, friendly bus driver drops us right at out parking garage and first drop off. Grease a palm in Vegas and you can get anything. Sat Nav has died but endeavour to find famous Premium Outdoor Outlet store by nose. Get pretty close then ask a cop car at the lights for directions (we were two blocks away).

A bit late for the plane so only one hour allocated for a quick browse, This is harbour town on steroids, Amanda could have spent two full days here ( the plan of getting her here just before we were due at the airport looks to have worked). A few clothes at Gap and some converse shoes and laces for the girls the only damage.

A last freeway pass adjacent to the strip (and seeing Elvis getting out of a pink Caddy near the famous Vegas sign at the south end of the strip) and we are dropping of the car. As flash as we thought it was, the number of limos and stretch everything here just blows your mind. Through customs again Nanna sprung with water in her bag. We must do a family intervention before airports in future. No Qantas Club affiliate here unless you are first class so slumming it we go. Burger King and sitting on the floor charging this EeePC in a wall socket and limited WiFi to check a few emails.

Off to London on BA@ 8.40pm, as i write this we are almost half way and I have a girl asleep on each shoulder (Soph & Belle that is, we've left Vegas now).

Must get a few hours myself. Viva Las Vegas.
