Hey all,

I'm in Yangshuo (Southern China) right now but I'm going to quickly update you
on what happened in Hong Kong.

On Friday I got up pretty early (I'm gotten quite unaccustomed to the sound of
traffic).?I decided that today was the day that I would be heading out to
Lantau, an island about 1 hour away from central Hong Kong.

Prior to going out there I realized that I was having some serious abdominal
cramps... it was really painful... and went I went to the washroom I urinated
blood!!!?I don't know what happened there but everything is fine now... it
just really surprised me... that had never happened to me before.?I gather
that this is the result of the fact that after having gone to eat with the
Americans I met... I chugged about 1L of water about two seconds before going
to bed.?It's not worrying me too much now because everything's gone back to
normal (it's now Sunday)... I just wanted to memorialize this part of my trip.

Anyway, I took a ferry out to Lantau.?It was a pretty smooth ride and I got
some amazing views of the city skyline.?It really is quite impressive.?Lantau
was even more impressive.?Nestled far from the city it is covered with lush
vegetation and is one of the many Hong Kong favored weekend retreats.
Basically Lantau is renowned for its beautiful walking trails and the Tian Tan
Buddha... one of the largest of its kind.

I walked up the 206 steps to the Buddha and was quite interested to see that
many of the Buddhist practiced a ritual of walking three steps, stopping,
getting to their knees, bowing and continuing this over and over until they
reached the top.?It was really quite fascinating.

At the bottom of the hill there is the Po Ming Monastery (I believe).?Again,
this was really quit beautiful and I was lucky enough to witness some people
doing some Tai Chi (I think) right in front of the monastery.

Anyway... the rest of the day was spent walking around the city and I managed to
fall down a flight of stairs and seriously bruise my knees.?Ironically, a group
of British Scout Girls (Brownies) just so happened to be walking buy with a
first aid kid... isn't life weird.

All right I should let you guys go since tomorrow I am going to CHINA!!!
