Talked to Kiki last night, before she went to the QOTSA concert in Calgary- ONE WEEK!!!
I cant believe we are actually going, i am addicted to searching the net for new and exciting things to do while we are there.
To me, this trip is a long time coming. Kiki and i have talked about it at least since i was in grade 7. As i turned thirty this year, i thought that there was no time like the present! Call it an early life crisis or a need to kick the dust up, but we are going to have a great time.

Kiki will leave Calgary for Toronto Sept 6 and then we will go out of Hamilton to Dublin. We land in Dublin Sept 7 early morn.

My worries for this trip are that one of us will get sick (motion sickness kiki) or that she will like it so much that she wont want to come back!

My expectations are that we will visit some historic and some modern landmarks, some breathtaking natural sights, some physical exploring and adventuring, some cultural and artistic gems, good beer, great wine, and earth shattering cheese!!

Kiki is the only person that i would have wanted to do this trip with. I was hoping that some of our family would have wanted to meet us along the way. Wouldnt it be cool to explore Ireland with the Parkers, discover Italy and France through Nona's eyes, or have a glass of wine with mom, Jeanette, or Michelle under the eiffel tower? Wouldnt it be great if Stef was there to help us translate?? haha!

But, just because this is perfect timing for us, doesnt mean it works for everyone. Kiki and i were meant to do this trip together and i have been dreaming of it for years.

As we were planning our adventure, lots of things have happened; i got engaged and bought a house! Those two things will turn your world upside down! Even as late as a week ago kiki was studying for a work exam and she is quickly moving up the judo ranks(Kung Fu Kourt... Kung Fu).

But, the goal was this trip, and we are here, a week away!

Kiki is sleeping i hope, she called me from the concert last night- got the message on the phone this morn(haha... payback)!

Kiki's Story:

Ya... what Kourt said (haha)... looks like she will be the writer of this pod- I'll just add sarcasm, but here's my opener for ya.

It's been a couple of years in the planning, and for me, I picked up a second job for a year to help save extra to make it this far.  I have called and hounded Kourt every couple of weeks... "Are we still going?"  "It's 1 year away!"  "Merry Christmas, here's your pack for our trip!" ... "OMG it's six months, should we get passports?"  "Can we book our flights yet?" ... and on and on...

I have no clue about art and history, so Im leaving all of that to Kourt.  I have found a few vineyards and natural things I want to see (Cliffs of Moher, Giants Causeway, Cinque Terre), but Im not too concerned about us not having anything to do with our time.  Anyone who has come to visit me knows I will always find stuff to do/ trouble to get into.. haha.

I was telling a friend that Kourt is prob the only person in the world that would trip with me like this, and he said he went with his brother, and it was the best vacation ever.  We will find some internet cafe's or access in the hostels to keep postings along the way.

Kourt also didnt add that she has been working double hard to make up for the time she will be off from work, AND to make up for a coworker that left this summer.  SO on top of her house and engagement, a cat with diabetes, another cat with 2 lives left, she is really going to need this vacation!  No worries Marse, I will keep her good and intoxicated... haha.

Well, only a few more days and we are outa here... look out europe...
