We have made our way to the center of the count via another LONG bus ride...Thank goodness for Metro bus company and their free water, tea and fruitcakeesque snacks...
It was quite an unreal landscape though...
We got off the bus and it literally does look like we just arrived in Bedrock (for those of you lacking in cartoon knowledge, that is the Flintstone's home town)...
Here one can sleep in caves and that's the basic excitement of the place...we stayed one night and then overnighted it yet again the next day...
Our first day we went to the Open air museum which consists of several rock cut churches and frescos...it's quite cool, but another 10 YTL...
We relaxed and wandered the rest of the day...
Day 2 in Bedrock: We rented motorbikes for a ridiculous some of 15 YTL for 5 hours...there were 5 of us so we were able to bargain a fair bit...
Buyer beware however!  (I'll come back to that)
We cruised around the area and went to see some small towns and the penis rocks...you laugh but really that's what they look like...
On the way back we pulled over onto the gravel side of the road for a group conference and our crap bike skidded and fell over...really we weren't injured but I was in shock for quite a bit and the left side of our bodies was bleeding a bit...
After that I wasn't quite so excited by the bike prospect so we made our way slowly bacl to town and were quite sore for the rest of the day...
Apparently we were the lucky ones as another two in our group were walking their bike down and they lost control for a sec and they ended up paying 300 YTL in damages...which may or may not have been a rip off...at least it was only my body that was injured and not my wallet...
It's a great place and a really cool locale to visit!  But you don't need very long there and a vehicle is a very useful thing...as nearby but to far to be walkable there is an underground city and some other cool sites...
