Moving on from Bar, we took a minibus to Kotor, a tiny town, population 22,500 and settled in...
Upon arriving via a very interesting minibus experience (the driver was smoking a cigarette while driving and sponging the moisture off the window..), we were met by an old man, named Marko, who led us to his pension to stay for 10 euro a night...while hand gestures speak volumes, I was relieved when we figured out that he spoke Italian...sharing a common language makes communication sooo much easier!
We headed out to walk up the ruins of Kotor...and it was amoist climb, particularly with the light rainfall...(I think we're cursed as the rain has followed us for prettyy much 2 weeks straight) but the view proved spectacular and was well worth the climb...
If you ever get a chance to go to Montenegro, Kotor is probably the best place to go...A ruined fortress in a fjord with a stunning old town and a ruined fortress (and free admission)
Definitely the place to be...
We met quite an assortment of people: a fellow from Montreal who was travelling to chess tournaments across europe; a british teacher who enjoyed discussing his travelling exploits even more than I do (he has been to North Korea 5 times and he is about to embark on a cruise from the arctic to the antarctic via a boat that is doing tests or something...I blanked out while he was talking whoops); an Albanian fellow (who will be included a bit later on)
It's quite the hotspot and quite cheap (it's amazing how much further one's money goes when one is not in western Europe :p)
To conclude, we drank a great deal of cappuccinos and ate a lot...
