For the first 2 weeks of April, Jacki and I have been moved to an equally picturesque town on the other side of La Spezia.  Lerici is great because here Jacki and I have a a convention with a restaurant where we eat (well!) for free...free food is all that you need to say to entice me!  The only downside to living in Lerici is that the buses to our hostel stop after 8 pm and dinner restaurants only really open at 7:30.  The only alternative to return to the hostel is to walk 15 minutes up a steep hill...apparently this area is full of steep hills!  I've walked up many during my stay here!

With Michelle here for the week, I've been playing the tour guide.  Yesterday we relaxed after the hectic pace that we maintained in Rome, but today we went to Cinque Terre (my second time) and tomorrow we are off to Portovenere!

Also a noteworthy event occurred!  Sunday evening, as Michelle, Jacki and I were returning from dinner, we stepped into the elevator to proceed down to our floor and the elevator stopped mid-floor...we could not get out...and we were stuck in this position until 45 minutes (and many phone calls) later when the hostel owner came to let us out...by this point the fire department and various other members of La Spezia were awoken with our dilemma...I, being the claustrophobic person that I am, may have screamed and freaked out a bit (ok a lot), but luckily for me, Jacki and Michelle thought that it was hilarious and eventually calmed me down...
