I arrived at the Terminal Bus Sud in Mexico City at 5am after a COLD night on the bus. The bus terminal was not as busy as a Chinese train station (what I imagined it to be). I meet a nice german guy who was travelling in Mexico and a american hippy girl who was studying here. We stayed at the terminal until 6am because that was the time of the first metro on a Sunday. I was cold. Coming from hot and humid pacific coast the highland really give me a shock. I had no jacket only a long sleeve parka. At 6am, we took the metro to Zona Rosa to find a hotel (recommended by the American girl, instead of Zocalo region). We checked in at the HI affiliate, Masion Havre. Mine was a really nice room of about 10 beds, I'm the only one there. Big room all to myself.

The BIG SHOCK was mexico city on a sunday morning is as quiet as Redwood national park. Very little traffic, almost fresh autumn air, in my conspiracy filled mind I started to think the image of dirty and polluted Mexico was just a propagada. It was as if I just found Paradise where others didn't dear to go. Zona Rosa was beautiful. Later in the afternoon I realized this day Mexico won the World Cup football 2002 qualifying game to go to Korea next summer. People are celebrating around the Angel de la Independencia.
