We left the glamorous Puerto Vallarta behind. Me and Dutch in his jeep Cherokee on the way south again. After 20 min. we have not travelled 20km, his old Californian Jeep decided not to change gears, so we are stuck on second gear. We didn't know what to do, stuck here in the middle of the twisting pacific highway, far from Vallarta, yet not close to any village or towns. Neither of us are mechanics. We finally decided to drive back to Vallarta on second gear only, which mean @ 30km/hr speed. Trying to negotiate the traffic as we go. It took about an hour to get back to Vallarta. It was Sunday, so mechanics are available today. Dutch decided to stay another night at the hostel, and fix the jeep tomorrow. Unfortunately, we have to go separate ways.

I took the bus to Zihuatanejo,(first time on the bus since Baja California), I arrive after dark. With no guide book -- just a old map, I try to find my way into town (walking). It was hot as usual. After finding a comfortable hotel, I took a cold shower and then walked about town. It was quiet compared to Vallarta, but I enjoy this atmosphere better, little true Mexico. BTW, my Spanish was getting much better, thanks to Dutch who had given me a few pointers.
