We stayed only one day in Cancun...walked around the major hotels, but did not discover any good beaches because most beaches in Cancun are private property of hotels. The Hard Rock Cafe area was nice and me & Juliette relaxed most of the afternoon there.

Today we took the early bus to Tulum, 4hrs south of Cancun. We got off the bus at the road to the Tulum Ruinas, Juliette's LP mexico was little out of date, and we walked for ages under the hot sun until we found our Cabana-- El Mirador. Tulum is famous for it's cabanas, basic wooden shacks on the beach, ours were was the cheapest but the best in my mind. This is truly not first class resort like cancun, more lay back style on the beautiful white sand beaches. We paid for only 80pesos (US$10) for the cabana, no water, no window, no electricity, just a bed on a sandy floor, PERFECT! Since it was Sunday, we went to the Tulum Ruins for free. Tulum is smaller than Chichen Itza, but the true beauty of Tulum was showcased over the beautiful Caribean Sea. At night we relaxed on the beach and watch the stars until it was getting cool. Since we had no electricity, our only candle was burning out fast. We went to sleep early. Thunderstorm and heavy rain washed over our cabana at night, just another beautiful day in paradise.
