Peter writes …

Our travels and exploits since the last update have continued and now include trips to Holland, Belgium and Mauritius. The one to Mauritius in the Indian Ocean was to attend my son David's wedding to the love of his life, Rachel. The ceremony was fantastic, the location very picturesque, and the weather brilliant. It was also a pretty good holiday for us all I must say with both of us learning to water ski. I even went water skiing wearing my wedding suit for a laugh.

The visits and meetings with old friends have been great. We’ve even tried some more camping – needless to say the weather was waiting for us again and the heavens opened. Still I got to teach my eldest grand daughter, Cathleen how to do headstands!! (Bit of a rush of blood to the head which I’m happy to say needed some red wine to steady me afterwards)

We have been thinking about several of our friends who may have been caught up in Hurricane Irene – hope everyone came through OK.

Our lives over the next year or so are a bit uncertain but for the time being we are returning to the boat until December this year. I hear it is raining very heavily there as well!!!!!

Bridget writes…

It has been the coldest summer for 18 years in the UK but the temperature in Trinidad will be 86 degrees (F)!! Unfortunately we will only be there for three months as I have to come back here for chemotherapy to treat my blood problem. This will involve treatment for 6 months followed by maintenance for 2 years, so as you can imagine, our plans for cruising are on hold for a while. I hope to get the treatment plan at the end of this month so that we might be able to fit some boat life in somewhere but it looks unlikely.

Looking on the bright side, the doctor predicts a complete recovery, so it is best to have the treatment now so that we can resume our exploring life style as soon as possible, before the problems of old age start to hit us!!!
