I'm beginning to get very fidgety now after having been in the same place for quite a while. The English weather hasn’t helped, not to mention stories from friends still afloat!
I must say that I have enjoyed much of our time in the UK which has been put to good use visiting family and friends as well as taking a short break in Norfolk, a longer camping trip to the West Country and a planned trip to Holland in the near future.
Exploring the Devon and Cornwall coast has been a highlight. We spent many hours on coastal walks around an area known as the Lizard (England’s southernmost point)
and then on to the North Cornwall area of Padstow. We even managed some body boarding before enjoying a cream tea (not good for the cholesterol levels!) The tent we bought was not particularly palatial, as you can see from the photos, but we survived with our 'billy’ can and single burner stove.
It’s not long now before we start fresh travels. In a few weeks time we go to Mauritius for my son, David’s wedding and then, all being well, it’s back to the boat in Trinidad.
Bring on the warmer weather!!

This time last year we spent our wedding anniversary on the boat in Corsica where we waited until gone midnight for the firework display for The Bastille Day celebrations. It only seems like yesterday but we have travelled a long way since then.
My back is healing well and we have been getting plenty of exercise and fresh air as we pass the time back here.
One of the highlights was a visit to Families Day at the Naval Base where my daughter, Helen is based. It was the first time we had been in the country to coincide with one such day. We were given a good insight into the work that she does and had fun trying on and sitting in some of the equipment that she uses. Peter had a short flight around the base but I was advised to stay on the ground! We were well looked after and had a wonderful buffet lunch.
It was great to have the chance to explore Cornwall – I had no idea the coast line was so lovely with blue sea and white sandy bays. We ate several of the famous Cornish Pasties and the best ones were in Tintagel where we saw them being made- just the right thing after a long walk!!

Hello!
Good to see that Bridget is recovering and that you are enjoying yourselves back home! We have reached Scotland now and will soon pass the Caledonian Canal and then we are back home again.
Take care!
Great to hear you are recovering Bridgett. We too loved Cornwall and the surrounding areas. Went to Padstow too so know what your saying.
Winter here in NZ but still not too cold yet! The days are lengthening out but still August to go. brrr. Can't wait for the summer. No boating yet but had a great trip to the Gold Coast in Queensland staying with family and friends. Love Ann and Michael

It is also a very nice tent with Peter or is it Peter with a tent? Travelling are starting. Enjoy your trip to Holland and special The Wedding of David. Love Ton and Corrie
Was great to see you both en route to Cornwall. Glad your back withstood the onslaught from the south west coast path and the pasties, Bridget. Have put the footings in today (in the rain) for those raised beds in the garden. Next time you visit ther will be flowers!

Great to hear about your travels on the continent during hurricane season. We are staying put and putting together a home here in Michigan. Will be back to Grenada in January. Hope you will still be around the area. Glad you are healing well, Bridgett. Take care.
Hi, Peter & Bridget,
From Marmaris, Turkey.
Congrats for all the trip you have been making. Wish Bridget a quick & healthy recovery. We keep following your itenerary with envy, we must say.
We are yet land based and keep taking long trekking trips above 3000m, within Turkey. We have just been back from a 9-days trip from Ala Mountains in the central Anatolia and Taurus range. Climbed 4-summits between 3400-3700m. We are targeting another summit trip to Mt Ararat, 5137m this Aug and another Everest Base Camp-Kala Pattar 5600m trip to Nepal coming Oct 2011 with a group from Zirve Marmaris Mountaineering Club.
Wishing you a safe trip all the way and good winds.
Look forward seeing you again, somewhere. It is such a small world. All Zirve friends are sending you their best wishes. Best,
Taner & Inci
