We have been on a winning streak lately - we won the quiz a couple of weeks ago thanks to the Aussie contingent who joined our team. Our prize was to share the entrance fee money (1 lira per person) and the penalty was to set the questions for the following week, which, thanks to the internet didn't take too long to do.
Next came the end of November party and another excuse to dress up. The theme was to dress as a character from TV or film and after much deliberation as to which of our fancy dress outfits could be recycled, I pulled on my old work clothes and dressed as a doctor (which one I don't know) and won joint first prize. I think the judge was swayed by my colourful eyelashes!! (Thanks to Mum for last years Christmas present)
We have also been doing a lot of walking and enjoying the local countryside. On one walk we came across a green box on a pole. I thought it was a box for post cards that never get delivered to England but we were reassured that it was in fact an earthquake detector!

On the boat front we have been rather lax lately. Everything seemed to go fairly well in the summer and so it has been hard to find something that needs fixing. There's always the routine maintenance stuff, oil changes; washing and putting the sails away; cleaning and stowing the dinghy, etc but nothing too challenging. Restless and always keen to learn new tricks, I was happy to help a friend, 'Andy', remove his rudder and replace the bearings. It was a mammoth task and took a lot of effort just to dislodge it. The trick was to remove the thing whilst preventing it from falling straight out of the bottom onto the ground - hence all the ropes. After several hours of work - success. (See the photo - more like two fishermen after a big catch!)

Nice bit of knitting!
Hi guys,
Glad to see the scrubs are being put to good such good use - and reaping rich rewards!
Nice bit of rudder suspension as well - complicated bit of knotwork, seen only in the advanced lashing for venture scouts!
The pix looked great, nice one of you two and a great shot over Bozborun.
Things here are fine, despite the financial melt-down, although temperatures are causing a yearning for the Costa Blanca climate. Sal and I are fine-tuning plans for Christmas, with the slopes calling in the New Year.
The offer of beer stands for your next home run.
kind regards, Steve and Sally.

Nice to hear something from you on December 5. You know it is Sinterklaas day. And it was a bisshop from Turkey. The sun is shining today. We need it because the same as Steve and Sally wrote we have a big financal melt down. How is the situation in Turkey with the financial problems? We have got a X,mas card from Hellen the first one from this year.

Congratulations on your recent winning streak!
Hi Mum, Hi Peter,

Congratulations on your winning streak! Glad to hear it's all going well - I put a little something in the post to you both the other day - saw it and thought of you! Don't worry though if you don't get Christmas cards - I saved them to give to you when we meet up!

Love the photos! You're both looking really brown and well.

Looking Good
Hi you two,

Lovely to see your photos and to have your good news about winning the fancy dress. I'd trust you, Bridget! Looking forward to seeing you soon. Staying indoors this morning as it's Kurban and I don't want to see something that I won't like!

Lots of Love, Bob & Cas xxx
