Today, we made the trip to Berlin, by way of a six and a half hour train from Amsterdam. The train ride itself was pretty uneventful. At first we were concerned that we weren't sitting next to each other, since our seats were 72 and 78, but somehow those are actually together. Settled in, we ended up sleeping for a while, and then alternated enjoying the countryside and and reading. We passed more wind turbines than I've ever seen and took a few pictures.
When we got to Berlin, we had to figure out their transportation network to get to our hostel. We were taking the S-Bahn, one of several possibles, and went to go wait for it. One train showed up and it took us a bit to figure out if it was the right one or not, but eventually decided it was. Tina got on and the doors started closing, so I rushed on... But the door kept closing! I couldn't fit! So I jumped out before the door would crush me / separate me from my suitcase, which left Tina all alone on her train, without any money or train ticket or passport. She did however have the only map, leaving me to guess which train to take to meet her. I did take the right one, and since we both knew which connection stop to get off at, I figured Tina would get off there (which didn't stop me from getting off at the first stop, running around for a few seconds to check if she was there and jumping back onto that same train). When I did get to Ostkreuz, she was there, and we were reunited, and we finally made it safely and easily to our hostel. But those ten or so minutes apart were very unpleasant...
At the hostel, we met Kelly and went up to our room. Very nice to meet up with friends out here! We have our own room, and the hostel itself is very nice. We get breakfast and wifi and are very near the S-Bahn, all great. We are also apparently sharing the hostel with several dozen German high schoolers, who are rather obnoxious... Anyway, we had a few very cheap yet delicious beers before trying to find a place to eat, ending up at a Croatian restaurant nearby. Went to bed rather early in preparation for what we anticipated would be a long first day in Berlin.

Oh my god, haha, that part about getting separated. That is really horrible but there's something comical about the way you write it, Barry...
Glad you guys were reunited!
