Where I stayed
Backpacker´s House Paraty
On the Saturday morning we had the free breakfast in the hostel... it was absolutely epic: fruit, bread, homemade jam, homemade smoothies, ham, cheese and sausages. We headed over to the neighbouring town of Trinidade after breakfast where we were to find more of these beautiful beaches. It was a little overcast but the beach was immense. We found another campsite right on the beach and decided to come back tomorrow and spend a few days camping
Saturday night we stayed in and Steve (who happened to be an awesome cook) made us all a proper curry... something we have both been craving for a while now.
Sunday morning and the rain had not relented... so we decided to spend another day at the hostel rather than camping in the rain. We spent the day doing lots of nothing at all and Steve made us a beef Sunday roast for dinner, which completely curbed our cravings for homely food... hopefully for a while at least. The beef here is so so cheap... we bought 1.5k of roast beef for about GBP 6.
Monday morning and the rain was still ever present... and the same again on Tuesday morning.
We decided to venture out of the hostel and see a little bit of the town finally despite the grey skies and threat of rain. We went to the ´historic centre´ which didn´t seem very historic at all. It was mainly full of restaurants and shops selling caiprinha kits, Brazil towels and other touristy souvenirs. We also went to the beach where we settled for a few hours to do some more fishing. Rory managed to catch a good few fish and one just big enough to eat.
We also popped along to a fishing shop where we spied a 4-man tent that looked so spacious and inviting that we decided to invest in our second tent in 2 weeks... so now we have our sleeping quarters and our fishing bivvy/storage tent. Proper campers! :)
We booked our bus out of Paraty for Sao Paulo for Wednesday afternoon rather than waste anymore time waiting for the sunshine.
