I'm sad to say that I have no pictures to post, because I have not taken any in the past few days. Or at least I don't think I have...I'll have to check my camera and if I find some I'll post them later.
So let's see Tuesday we had class in the morning and talked more about the history of where the people of Iceland came from. Then after lunch we took a trip into the third largest city in Iceland called Selfoss. It was about a half an hour away from where we are staying in Skalholt. While we were there we went into a mini mall so that we could purchase some snacks for ourselves. Some people also needed toothpaste and shampoo and other such things, so they were able to pick up stuff like that. We also bought stuff for smores as many of us were craving them. And that is really all that happened on Tuesday.
Wednesday we had class again in the morning. It was our first literature day so we started reading the Norse myths, which were really interesting. I look forward to continuing to study them. In the afternoon we some of had a day off. I read some, watched several people attempt to fly kites and played bocce. We also had a visitor with us that afternoon and evening. His name was Baldvin and he is the grandson of one of the workers here at Skalholt. He was extremely nice and like a little brother to us all. He ended up spending the night with us here at our dorm building and we made smores and watched amusing youtube videos. There was also a pillow fight that I did not participate in but it was very amusing to watch. Anyways, we also had a visitor before and after dinner. Her name was Eyglo and she is the editor of Iceland Review Online. Here is a link to the her column. She answers questions everyday about Iceland and also on occasion writes articles for the site. Here is my favorite article that she was written. She was very friendly and answered all of our questions.
Anyways, so today we again had class in the morning, continuing our studies of the Norse myths, which were once again really interesting. And this afternoon after a nap, we had another visitor by the name of Thorir. He is a consultant for the Icelandic Minister of Science, Education and Culture, I believe. He came and gave a presentation on the Icelandic school system, which was really interesting and very relevant to many of girls who I am here with as they want to be teachers. After his presentation we ate dinner and then I came back here to the dorm and began working on this, so yea. Not much else to say. Though we do leave tomorrow for Reykjavik so I'll have lots of pictures and stories when we get back on Saturday evening. BUT I will have a paper due on Sunday evening so I may not post anything until Monday.
