What I did
Artenis for lunch

We left Huntsville on the first Delta flight out to Atlanta in the morning, which only gave us about a 40 minute lay over in Atlanta before we traveled via Delta airlines to San Jose, Costa Rica. As Kathy has a working knowledge of Spanish, she is in charge, for this trip.

After arriving in San Jose we were challenged by the huge crowds trying to get through customs and immigration. Changed a bit of money over into Colones (at about 447 colones to the dollar) and went to find our Thirfty car driver. Checked out the rental, experienced a huge and violent rain storm, got the GPS programmed and were on our way. The road would take us west toward Mercedes, to the town od Artenis, the stop for lunch.

In Artenis I had a lunch recommendation for a small road side stand just west of Artenis and it was not exactly out of the way on our trip to Puntarenas and the Double Tree Resort.  I had a chicken dish, Costa Rican in style, Kathy had a Quesadilla with chicken and cheese. Nothing like our Mexican meals on previous trips.

The trip to the cafe took us up and down a number of switchbacks, through the rain forest that is Costa Rica, and most of the road ways were challenging, narrow and poorly marked. The drivers are almost as bad as Italians.

I have to say, I have never experienced as many greens as we have seen today. And so many of the greens are more vivid then I think I have ever experienced. The greens are so varied and so rich that they appear florescent.

Lunch was great and we got back on the road, heading for Puntarenas, 37 kilometers away. We emcountered one toll booth and they required 440 colones from us. Good thing we had changed monies.
