What I did
I visited Berlin in October 1989 as young CW3, now 23 years later I stood again in front of the Berlin Wall at the Newseum. What an amazing period of history.
With the end of the Cold War, I believe these photographs of the Berlin Wall are indicative of my career as an Officer in our Army.
A big different today, There weren't any armed security guards awaiting my misstep with a bullet dedicated to my flesh. I remember a very heightened sense of danger standing in front of the wall.
The Newseum is an interesting museum with a number of exhibits that celebrate the freedoms that we, as Americans, enjoy. It is not part of the Smithsonian, so an admission is charged. The admission is good for two days. I recommend this museum, only if you aren't museumed-out, after visiting the Smithsonian series of museums.(your ticket is good for two days)
