Flag of Egypt  , Red Sea and Sinai,

Today I travelled from Luxor for a three night stay at the beautiful Three Corners Rihans Resort on the coast of the Red Sea in a place called El Gouna which is about 30 km from Hurghada, the larger city.  Both have recently seen a lot of expensive buildings go up, many owned by rich Europeans as it is cheaper to vacation or retire here than in Europe.

However, this is where I got sick and it does not surprise me, for although the place looks pristine and the buildings are new and beautiful, i caught the cleaning guy, cleaning my drinking glasses using his fingers to wipe the edges under running water and putting them back on the shelf.   The breakfast was included but the eggs were never cooked through and the doctor said this is what gave me the trots.  I already had the cold. I reported the glass incident and they were most concerned.  I met the wife of the Marketing Manager on the beach and she said they were taking it serious as their worst fear was they would have a major outbreak like on a ship and they would not be able to handle it from spread to other resorts.  There are  14 at El Gouna.  It is a small town.

It was too bad that I was not feel well here as it is a beautiful resort and there was a Marina party Friday night right after I arrived but I was too tired to go. Anyway, enjoyed the beach and the pool and took the opportunity to try and rest.  Unfortunately, I still needed a doctor by the time I hit Cairo but that is old news now and I am better as I write this on October 9th.  Wanted you to see the pictures of the resort and the contrast between this area and Cairo and Luxor City.  The first pictures are still of the Sheraton and the Nile across from it and the next are of the drive out of Luxor and then there are ones are of El Gouna Resort.  i also included a few of Hurghada, the larger town and some of the new buildings being built there for rich Egyptians and Europeans.
