Randy cooked us a fabulous breakfast, then took the I-25 S to get across Denver before finding the CO-67. At the beginning this was a very pretty road, after a short while we came to a fork in the road and decided to take W Pine Creek road as this was only meant to be a 3 mile dirt road. Well it started out very easy and then we rounded a turn and WOW it just dropped, twisted and turned, very scary, I kept it in first gear and rode the rear brake to keep control, this was fine until my brakes gave out due to over heating! Luckily we made it to the end OK.
As I didn't have any rear brakes I had to take it easy until they cooled down, luckily the road was quite flat and run along side the river for 10 miles, so there was plenty to look at until we reached Decker where we stopped for refreshments, I had an amazing Butter Pecan milkshake :)
We continued on towards Pike Peak where we paid our toll money then pulled over to put on a few more layers on as we was going up to over 14,000 feet and expected it to be very cold!
The ride up was amazing, but the melting snow caused the bike to get out of shape on some of the hairpins... Scary! Eventually we reached as far as we could go and found a good spot where we could release Sandy's ashes to the wind, it was very emotional as Terri gave a very moving pray that brought a tear to all of our eyes.
Of course had to take a few pics in the snow before riding back down for more pics at the North Pole!
By now the temps had risen and needed to stop and shed a few layers, then it was on to the Garden of the Gods, man that very beautiful !
Finding our hotel was a little confusing but in the end we managed it, after unloading our stuff we got back on the bikes and went and found a 'Outback' restaurant for a well deserved steak dinner!

Miles ridden today - 185
