Arrived in Luang Prabang (old capital) via short stops at a temple and a whiskey making stall (check out the "snake in the bottle" picture).
By the way the family that own the boat actually live on the boat.
Became instant Laotian millionaires after a visit to the ATM.
Had an amazing local barbecue and visited the night market, which was much more laid back than other markets we had been to. Prices are so good that I found myself negotiating down and then tipping!
We also found a DHL post office so we can send some stuff back which is great news for our little rucksacks and for Mayu!
Bought myself a bracelet made out of aluminum from an unexplored US bomb!
All before we headed back to our French colonial style hotel aka the "best exotic marigold hotel" film complete with the odd power-cut.
Day 2 of three included a swim in a waterfall, massage and pedicure (for Mayu), and a meal at a local home. In-between I ate some baby bees from a stall and a chocolate pie from a bakery - well I hope it was chocolate!
A really cool place and the locals are just so warm and happy. No idea what day 3 might involve!
