Today's weather was perfect for our adventure:  a trip to Huntington Beach State Park. Huntington is located at Murrel's Inlet, south of Myrtle Beach. The beach is a small, beautiful, white sand beach with no condos, no houses, nothing to spoil your view (if you are looking north.) Tim and Brenda are birders, so we took a short walk through the woods onto a boardwalk where we saw the tricolored heron pictured below, roseate spoonbills, wood storks, a beautiful Kingfisher, a woodpecker, and an avocet. The avocet was a "new bird" for Brenda so she was quite excited. There were assorted other birds and various ducks. We searched in vain for the alligators that inhabit the marshes.

We had lunch in Murrel's Inlet at a dockside restaurant with a beautiful view. Drove back and I had a short walk on the beach. Tonight is the banquet for the reunion where I'm sure the wine will flow and the conversation will pick up where it left off last night.....if anyone remembers last night!

By the way, we had breakfast at Hoskins Restaurant which is notable because it has been in Ocean Drive since 1948. That makes it almost as old as I am!!

Hi, just wanted to say that your blog entry coincides with mine for Huntington Beach. Maybe we saw each other as well as the birds. My blog is MortysAdventure.blogspot.com

We are camping here for another night. Thanks for the birding update.
