We have really been enjoying the Indonesian street food and Yogyakarta certainly served up the best street food we have had yet. Most meals are around 50p, dripping with peanut sauce and incredibly tasty.
It is school holiday season at the minute so there are a lot of domestic tourists. Which means a lot of "mister mister, photo photo!"
We do stop for photos quite a bit, and much more so than we did in India. It is slightly different here as in India it was mainly men wanting a picture of Charlie, but in Indonesia it seems to be young girls wanting a picture of me
Yogyakarta had all gone incredibly smoothly until a routine ear clean went horribly wrong after Charlie lost contact with one of her cheap Indian cotton buds. After not being able to spot it, even with a torch, we headed off to hospital. Thankfully the hospital had no problem in retrieving the cotton bud, and although Charlie had to suffer some giggling from the staff, she was still very thankful to have her ear canal unblocked and another country to add to her long list of foreign hospitals visited.
After 3 nights in Yogyakarta we were due to head East to climb Mount Bromo, but a “no-show” from the bus ensured that we had an extra day hanging around.
When the bus did come it was 12 hours until we reached the small village of Cemoro Lawing.
