We set off from Gondar in search of some good trekking and to give Charlie the opportunity to nurse some of her bed bug bites.

The scenary was spectacular, although the highlight for me has to be the constant battle between the gelada baboons in search of food and the children of the area defending their crops.

It was great watching the children armed with slingshots and the baboons armed with four inch fangs try and out wit each other. It was also the only time I have ever thrown a stone at an animal and considered myself to be "helping"

At night the temperature drops below freezing and we soon realized we were faced with two problems. Firstly, the rented tent resembles a table cloth. Secondly, we would be sharing it with a healthy population of fleas.

After three uncomfortable nights, and with Charlie staring to look like she has chicken pocks we were ready for home. We pre arranged transport in Gondor to pick us from the opposite end of the park, although after two hours late and no word we started to worry. After four hours and no show a local guide advised us to hitch hike if we wanted to avoid another night in our flea infested tent. So we tried to flag down a truck that could take us to the nearest town, although with almost no traffic in the area we did not have much luck.

Finnally our mini bus appeared over the horizon and we packed in for the bumpy 6 hour drive back to Gondar with the only explanation for our apparent abandonment was "problem with da bus"
