Hola mes amigos,
well iīve almost survived Venezuelan, headin to Cuba tomorrow so just one more night of good behaviour. Venezuela is a pretty cool place and we ended up doing alot that we intended. First off when we arrived into Caracas we headed east to check out the beautiful Caribbean beaches. Stayed in a place called playa de Colorado in a Scottish owned hostel (www.jakera.com) cool place but got bitten a good bit by mosquitos. The owner is actually the brother of the weirdo with the beard from the darkness. Cool enough guy lives the life of international jet setter apparently he throws parties for Russian millionaires and he is at the moment planning parties for the gunball rally in Monte Carlo. On our second night there we went out to a club with him and some Scandanivans who were also stayin at the hostel. And true to form we ended up in the VIP area with bottles of smirnoff vodka on the table and a bevy of hot scandanivans in toe NICE!
Spent another day or two drinkin there (its a bit blurry) and then on our last day there we decided we better go down and check the beach out. We went out in kayaks to small islands not too far out. Got to see dolphins on the way out, tried chasing after them but there were too quick. We done some snorkeling when we got to islands, absolutely class, mad lookin yolks all over the place. The islands themselves were cool completely deserted and loads of beaches dotted around on them.
Havin got the flava of islands we headed out to Venezuelas biggest island and reported party capital of Venezuelan Isla De Margarita. Hired a car for the island on advice given to us to truly explore the island. But doing the typical Irish thing found a good pub round the corner and stayed there all day before we went out clubbin. Just used it for getting to and from the ferry lucky it was cheap as chips.
A Cuban friend we had made at Playa de Colorado had offered us a real cheap deal to go visit Los Llanos and experience the real Venezuelan. So we agreed after a few beers and was started to regret doing it as it took us 25 hours in an unairconditioned bus. Started to realize why we got a cheap deal.
Los Llanos though was pretty cool one might describe it as great vast plains of nothing with a few animals but when the animals are caimans (crocs), piranhas, capybaras (largest rodents in the world) and last but by no means least great big anacondas it makes it kind of special. We sent three days there and the first day we caught a caiman and piranhas and eat them for dinner that night. Second day we spent horde riding through the plains and crossing river real cowboy stuff, great laugh as Fitzy had some loco (crazy) horse and Liams one was pregnant while I was flying around like John Wayne. Our last day was left for the hunt for anacondas, we got a small one first (i say small it was still 1.5 meters long) then we seen the mother of all anacondas. It was lying in some marsh couldnīt see all of it but the guides said it was probably 7 meters long. The chicken shit guides wouldnīt touch as the said it was too big so gave them a bit of slanging and then threw some mud on it to see it move but it didnīt even flinch.
