We now left Ain Hundra behind and set off by camel to meet the Land Cruiser and then continue on to St. Katherine's Monastery. There was a large group of camels outside Ain Hundra, two of which were for us and the rest for a large group that must have been arriving later.
The camel trek was exhilarating once we got the hang of it. It is one of my regrets that it was so short. If I have the opportunity to return to Egypt I will certainly want to do a lot more camel trekking. At one point, however, the slope looked too steep to be sitting atop a camel and we dismounted and walked up.
We were incredibly lucky to spend most of our time in the Sinai surrounded by so few fellow tourists. Indeed it was only at St. Katherine's that we once again found ourselves in crowded places.
