What I did
Drove from Ceduna via Port Augusta
We left Ceduna at about 8:30am, filling with fuel before heading to Port Augusta. The nature of the road on this leg was similar to that from Port Lincoln to Ceduna except no sea close handy, just low rolling hills and lots of cropping, mainly wheat. Every 40km or so there was a small "whistle stop" place where there was a large set of silos for collecting and shipping the wheat but the train line was not active and few of them had shops or fuel stops that were open. We stopped at one of the few active spots in Wudinna for lunch and a coffee.
We called in to look at the old Iron Knob iron ore mining township and it was a surprise to find that it wasn't far from being a ghost town,
A fuel stop for AH in Port A then off to find somewhere to stay for the night. Found this real bush caravan park and camping ground via 3km of dirt road, east of Wilmington. It has showers built into a large concrete pipe on it end and the toilets are a galvanised tin shed.
