Very muggy and cloudy in Newport when we got up got breakfast. This turned into a downpour as we reached New Haven around 2pm.Receptionist says it will be like this all weekend, so good job we're heading home tomorrow.

The room here is the best we've stayed in with a kitchen (complete with dishwasher) , real fire etc. Shame we're only here for a night.Only downside is the Internet is Ethernet which is a bit archaic for IPad.

Back to the weather.... once we'd unpacked we went out for a drive to find a Subway. Unfortunately not a lot in the vicinity and then the heavens opened so we drove round a bit more with no success.Ended up in IKEA restaurant as was the only place open.Rain was belting it down at this point and parts of car park were like a lake.We decided to buy some food there to make dinner tonight in case the weather stayed bad.

The local news had tornado warnings to the north east of us at 5pm that's how bad it was.But returned to dry muggy weather here by then, then to sun.

We took a trip to downtown New Haven in the hotel bus and walked round the city, especially Yale University which has a lovely clock tower which plays all sorts of lovely chimes at odd times. We had agreed that the driver would pick us up at 7.30pm but the git didn't show up do we got free bus to the train station and walked from there.

Had the IKEA dinner (really cheap day today) and a few beers then bed.

Bit of a disappointing last full day in the US all in all.
