There were 4 main exhibits to visit - the 1940s aircraft carrier, a late 1950s nuclear strike submarine (called Growler) Space Shuttle Enterprise (hidden from view under a big bubble from those who didn't pay), and a Concorde.
I started with the Concorde which was the last one to land at JFK.Sat down inside (the cabin was small but only 100 seats do not cramped). No TVs in the seat backs just like AA.Also got to go in the cockpit with its seriously complex dashboard.Well worth the extra.
Enterprise never actually went into space - it was just a test shuttle. But it was pretty big.Shame you're not allowed in it.Maybe one day.
Aircraft carrier pretty much like the USS Midway we visited in San Diego 2 years ago.Lots of jets and choppers.I liked the Lockheed Blackbird - went half as fast again as Concorde.
Nuclear sub Growler had a big queue but at least you had time to have a good look around.Cruise missile outside on deck was impressive.Good job never fired or none of us would be around today.
On return to hotel there were lots of people stood opposite the Feingold Cinema next to Hilton. It's the world premiere of the new Bourne film there tonight.Wonder who turned up.
Obama was in town today too apparently.Might explain the 'Love America,Hate Obama' Tshirt I saw on one guy.
The ladies came back from shopping with lots of bags.Caitlin got a prom dress for next summer - a Ralph Lauren blue sequinned effort which they got for around $220 (£150).Good spot!
In evening we went to a nice Mexican just off Broadway.Only let down was they were out of their trademark Grasshopper tacos.May have to return!
Then stroll down to Times Sq to check out the lights and the lit up skyscrapers.
